Consumer prices in the UK in June did not change compared to May and increased by 2.4% in annual terms, according to the Office for National Statistics. Analysts had expected the first indicator to grow by 0.2%, the second one - by 2.6%. Annual inflation remains at 2.4% for the third consecutive month and remains above the Bank of England target of 2% for more than a year and a half. Without taking into account the price of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, prices rose by 1.9% compared to growth of 2.1% a month earlier. Food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased in May by 0.5% in May, alcohol and tobacco products - by 0.1%, clothes and footwear - by 2.1%. At the same time, transport services rose by 0.8%, communication services - by 0.7%, health services - by 0.2%.
