The volume of China’s trade with the countries of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative grew by 16.3% last year. Trade with these countries accounted for 27.4% of the country's foreign trade relations. In 2018, China imported goods worth $563 billion from member countries, which is 23.9% more than in 2017. China's direct investment in the economies of the countries-participants increased by 8.9%. Investments exceeded $89 billion. Last year, China made investments in 56 countries and signed agreements on projects with 63 countries. The “One Belt, One Road” Initiative should attract investment in the construction of trade infrastructure linking East Asia and Europe. China provides cheap loans to parties to the agreement. Thanks to this, countries are implementing large-scale projects such as the construction of railways and ports.
