The leading consumer confidence index, calculated by GfK, was 10.1 points, falling from the May value of 10.2 points. Analysts estimated the index at 10.4 points. Among the factors that negatively affect consumer expectations regarding the German economy are ongoing discussions about the conditions for Britain’s exit from the EU, the possible aggravation of the trade conflict with the United States and the slowdown of the global economy. In May, an indicator defining economic expectations slowed down to 1.7 points from 3 points a month earlier. The intentions of citizens to make large purchases decreased, the corresponding figure fell to 50.5 points from 53.1 points. Their earnings expectations rose to 57.7 points from 56.8 points in April.
