Euro area trade surplus rose to 22.5 billion euros in March this year from 17.9 billion euros a month earlier, Eurostat reported. According to economists' forecasts, a less significant increase was expected - up to 19.9 billion euros. Eurozone countries exported goods worth 205.6 billion euros, which is 3.1% more than the export volume of the same month in 2018. The volume of imports reached 183.1 billion euros, its growth over the year was 6%. Eurostat data for the EU countries showed an increase in the trade balance surplus of the European Union in March of this year to 2.9 billion euros from its February value of 2.7 billion euros. In March of this year, exports grew by 1.2% to 173.4 billion euros. Imports amounted to 170.4 billion euros, an increase of 6.4%.
