Eurostat published a final estimate of the level of inflation in the euro area in April. As of April 2018, consumer prices increased by 1.7%, accelerating growth against the March rise of 1.4%. The figure for April coincided with the expectations of experts. The rise in prices relative to their March level was 0.7%. The annual inflation rate, which does not include energy, food and alcohol, reached a record 1.3% in 2 years, indicating acceleration after an increase of 0.8% a month earlier. In April of this year, there was a 1.5% increase in the cost of food, alcohol and tobacco products in annual terms. The cost of services increased by 1.9%, energy carriers - by 5.3%. In April, in the EU countries, an annual increase in consumer prices at 1.9% was recorded, for the month they increased by 0.7%.
