In October, the composite consumer and business confidence index in the eurozone was 109.8 points, down from 110.9 points in August, the European Commission reported. The decline in the index has been observed in the eurozone for 10 months in a row. In October, the figure was the lowest in 17 months. Experts had predicted the value of the index at 110 points. In their opinion, such a long fall in the index is caused by increased uncertainty about the further development of the global economy. The confidence of industrial companies in the eurozone economy fell to 3 points from 4.7 points. In the service sector, the indicator was 13.6 points, down from 14.7 points. In October, the fall in the business climate indicator to a minimum of almost a year and a half in 1.01 points from 1.21 points in September was recorded. Consumer confidence rose to minus 2.7 points from minus 2.9 points.
