German Chancellor Angela Merkel meets with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during a visit to Baku on Saturday to discuss the supply of Caspian gas to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor. The Southern Gas Corridor Project stipulates that Azerbaijani gas produced in the second stage of the Shah Deniz development project will be supplied to Europe via Turkey. It is expected that the total volume of production will be 16 billion cubic meters per year, 10 billion cubic meters of which will be sent to Europe, the remaining 6 billion cubic meters - to Turkey and Georgia.
