Eurostat published a report on the dynamics of housing prices in the Eurozone and the EU in the fourth quarter of last year. The statistics indicated a slowdown in house prices in the Eurozone to 4.2% in annual terms from 4.3% a quarter earlier. Compared with the third quarter, housing has risen in price by 0.7%, while in the previous quarter prices rose at a level of 1.5%. The annual increase in housing prices in the EU countries in the last quarter of 2018 also slowed to 4.2% from 4.3% in the third quarter. In quarterly terms, prices rose by 0.6% compared with a rise of 1.5% in the previous quarter. The highest rates of annualized housing prices went up in Slovenia, Latvia, and the Czech Republic, while a 0.6% decline in prices was noted in Italy.
