India has decided to increase duties on imports of a number of agricultural commodities, steel and iron ore from the United States in response to the introduction by the US authorities of additional tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum from some countries, including India. The increased duties will be assessed on apples, almonds, chickpeas, lentils and other types of agricultural products, as well as certain categories of iron ore and steel products. According to the Ministry of Trade of India, new tariffs for certain categories of goods take effect immediately.
