Distatis released final data on inflation in Germany in February. Compared to February of last year, prices according to EU standards showed an increase of 1.7%. Inflation in February was at its lowest level since April 2018, which was observed for the past three months. Regarding January, there was a price increase of 0.5%. Both indicators confirmed the forecasts of experts. According to national standards, consumer price growth in annual terms was at the level of 1.5%, with experts forecast of 1.6%. Compared to January, prices increased by 0.4%, which is 0.1 percentage points less than experts had expected. Energy prices went up in annual terms by 2.9%. Excluding them, inflation was 1.4%. A 1.4% rise in prices was also noted in the categories of food and services.
