Annual inflation in Italy amounted to 0.9% in January, slowing from the December value of 1.1%, Istat statistics showed. Relative to the previous month, consumer price growth was 0.1%. The slowdown in inflation was mainly due to lower energy prices. If you do not take into account energy, food and alcohol, the price increase was 0.5% compared to the same month a year earlier. For the year, food prices rose by 0.8%, alcohol and tobacco products - by 2.6%, clothing and footwear - by 0.2%. The cost of transport increased compared with January 2017 by 1.2%.
