Consumer prices in Switzerland rose in May by 1% in annual terms. Compared with the growth of 0.8% in April, inflation accelerated in May, official data show. The May inflation rate became the highest since March 2011. Analysts had predicted the figure at 0.9%. Relative to the previous month, consumer prices rose by 0.4%. Output of Swiss production went up by 0.4%, imported goods in the country - by 2.7%. In 2011-2016, inflation in Switzerland was constrained by a strong Swiss franc, but over the past 12 months, the franc paired with the euro fell significantly. According to the forecasts of the Swiss Central Bank, the average annual inflation in 2018 will be at the level of 0.6%.
