The British Office for National Statistics recorded an increase in consumer prices in the UK by 1.9% in annual terms in March, just as a month earlier. According to experts, it was expected that March inflation would reach the target level of the Bank of England at 2%. Growth in consumer prices relative to the previous month was at the level of 0.2%, which coincided with economists' forecasts. Annual inflation, not taking into account the cost of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, was 1.8%, also maintaining the level of February. For the month, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.1%. Alcohol and tobacco products fell by 0.3%, transportation services - by 0.1%. Restaurants and hotels increased prices by 0.4%. Communication services went up by 0.2%, health care - by 0.3%. Statistics on the dynamics of retail prices in the country showed their annual growth in March by 2.4% and their stability relative to February.
