Consumer prices in the UK increased in March by 0.1% compared to February and by 2.5% compared to March of last year, the statistics showed. Analysts had predicted growth of the first indicator by 0.3%, the second - by 2.7%. It is noted that the annual inflation in the UK remains above the Bank of England's target level of 2% 14 months in a row. Without taking into account the prices of food, alcohol, tobacco and energy, prices rose by 2.3% against growth of 2.4% a month earlier. Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.4% in monthly terms, clothes and footwear - by 0.7%. The prices for alcohol and tobacco products fell by 0.5%, for transportation services - by 0.3%. The growth of retail prices in March was 3.3% in annual terms and 0.1% compared to February.
