The reporting of the Japanese automaker Nissan at the end of last year showed weak sales of Infiniti cars in the European market, which caused the company’s decision to withdraw this brand from the Western European market in early 2020. The United States and China will remain the main markets for this brand, where it is popular. Nissan also announced plans to produce an Infiniti electric car, as well as an intention to stop assembling Infiniti cars at its largest factory in Sunderland in the UK, leading to the dismissal of about 250 employees. The company also plans to move the X-Trail SUV assembly from this plant to Japan. According to official data, in 2018 car production in the UK decreased by 9%.
