An obvious supporter of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s tough-as-nails Brexit approach, a lawmaker from Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party weighs in on the matter, claiming chances of Britain departing from the EU without a deal are significant.
Jeffrey Donaldson, a DUP senior lawmaker, stated in an interview that the party agreed with Johnson, affirming that the only way through to parliament for a Brexit deal was to completely let go of the Irish backdrop.
He was quoted as saying in a BBC radio statement:
“I think given the response of the Irish government in particular, who I believe are key to this issue of addressing UK concerns about the backstop, I think the prospect of a no deal is significant,”
Should the risk prove significant or not, the Pound is definitely feeling the effects of Brexit pressure. The value of the Pound had stumbled within the week. Investors are, of course, quick to factor Britain's exit with the subsistence of the currency.
The Pound had already lost 4.3% this month and is speculated that it won't end there especially with Prime Minister Johnson's vigor in prying Britain out of the EU's clutches.
