Profit of BP, a British oil company, exceeded market forecasts in Q4 2018. Net profit of the corporation was $2.717 billion against a loss of $583 million over the earnings period last year. Experts had predicted a figure of $2.63 billion. Profit after deduction of one-off factors increased by 65% to $3.48 billion compared to $2.11 billion in 2017. BP increased revenues by 9.8% to $76.89 billion. In the exploration and production segment, profits rose to $3.89 billion from $2.22 billion last year. The amount of profit in the downstream segment exceeded $2 billion compared to $1.47 billion. Profit size for the entire 2018 almost doubled to $12.7 billion. At the same time, revenue grew by a quarter to $303.74 billion. BP decided to sell its assets in the amount of $10 billion in the next two years.
