The volume of retail sales in the euro area increased in June this year by 0.3% compared to May due to the sale of food, according to data from Eurostat. Analysts had expected the growth rate of 0.4%. Sales of non-food products in comparison with May increased by 0.3%. The volume of cars sold in June increased by 0.6%. Sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.7%. Compared with June last year, the growth rate of retail sales decreased from the May level of 1.6% to 1.2%. Economists had predicted an increase of 1.4%.
