Sales of new homes in the US rose in May, taking into account seasonal fluctuations of 6.7% compared to April, and reached the highest level since November 2017 at 689 thousand units, the country's Ministry of Trade reported. Economists had expected sales to increase by only 0.7%. Compared with May last year, sales of new homes in the US increased by 14.1%. In the South, the indicator increased by 17.9% to the highest level since July 2007, at 409,000 units. In the Northeast, sales fell by 10%, in the West, the fall was 8.7%. The average price of the house was $313,000, decreased by 3.3% year-on-year. The number of houses in the market grew in May by 1% compared with April.
