According to the contract concluded between Royal Dutch Shell and NextDecade for a period of 20 years, the United States will deliver liquefied natural gas with reference to the price of Brent oil for the first time. The export project “Rio Grande LNG” in the state of Texas, which is scheduled to launch in 2023, will supply two million tons of LNG to Shell each year. According to Reuters, the link to the price of Brent crude will cover three-quarters of the volume supplied. The rest of the agreed volume will be supplied by US internal gas indices, including Henry Hub. It is reported that NextDecade is awaiting in the near future the conclusion of other commercial agreements for the supply of LNG from this project.
