The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs expects that the Swiss economy this year will expand due to a strong global economy and favorable exchange rate changes that increase the demand for domestic products. According to the forecast, GDP in Switzerland this year will grow by 2.4%, just as it was expected in March. The forecast for the next year is kept at the level of 2%. Growth of exports against the backdrop of a weaker Swiss franc exchange rate will contribute to the sustainable development of cyclical and currency-oriented exports, such as machinery, metals and tourism services. In 2019, the unemployment rate in the country is expected to fall to 2.5% from 2.6% in 2018.
