The economy of the eurozone in the second quarter grew at the weakest pace since the second quarter of 2016. According to preliminary data of Eurostat, GDP of the euro area grew by 0.3% compared to the first quarter and by 2.1% in annual terms. Compared with the increase in the first quarter by 0.4% in quarterly terms and by 2.5% in annual terms, the euro zone's economic growth slowed. Forecasts of analysts suggested an increase of the first indicator by 0.4%, in the second one- by 2.2%. Economists have voiced concerns about the growing tensions between the US and other countries that can reduce investment and exports in the euro area. Nevertheless, they expect an increase in the economic recovery in the second half of the year.
