The index of business optimism of small businesses in the United States dropped in January to the lowest level since November 2016, to 101.2 points, having lost 3.2 points over the month. These data are published in the report of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Bloomberg writes that these data indicate a deterioration in the prospects for the American economy due to the longest government closure period in US history. Since October 2016, the share of those companies that are hoping to improve business conditions in the next six months was at the lowest level of 6%. The survey participants, however, expect in the short term stable demand, as the share of those planning capital expenditures for the next 3-6 months has grown. At the same time, the minimum number of companies since 2017 believes that the present is suitable for business expansion.
