The World Trade Organization announced Turkey’s decision to introduce import quotas on steel from October 17. In addition, the country will also additionally impose duties in the amount of 25% for any deliveries in excess of the established limits. According to Reuters, Turkey was forced to take such measures to protect its economy from increasing the supply of steel into the country after the introduction of 25 percent duty on imported steel by the US President Donald Trump. It is reported that quotas, which will be imposed by Turkey, do not apply to non-produced hot-rolled stainless steel.
