UAE warns Saudi Aramco attacks can dangerously escalate
The attacks carried out on Saudi Arabian oil plants are a dangerous escalation and the international community should stand by Riyadh to ensure regional stability, a senior United Arab Emirates official said on Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia said that initial findings indicated that the weekend attacks which had cut half of the Kingdom’s crude export were carried out by Iranian weapons. U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Iran for the attacks in which Iran denied.
Riyadh said it was capable of responding forcefully and urged U.N. to help investigate the situation.
Houthi, Yemen’s Iran-aligned group claimed the attacks and Iranian President Hassan Routhani said the strikes were carried out by “Yemeni people” retaliating for attacks by a Saudi-led military coalition in the four years of war with the Houthis.
