In May, unemployment in Canada remained at the April level of 5.8%, which has been helding in the country for the fourth consecutive month. This is evidenced by the official statistics of Canada. The indicator coincided with the forecasts of the experts. Last month, the number of jobs in the Canadian economy fell by 7.5 thousand, while analysts had expected an increase of 23.5 thousand. The number of employees increased by 238 thousand, or by 1.3%, as compared to May of the previous year. In May, the employment of the Canadian population increased to 65.5% from 65.4% a month earlier. Employment growth was noted in scientific and technical services, as well as in nutrition, finance, insurance and transport sectors sector. Reduction was observed in construction, manufacturing and healthcare.
