Canadian uranium mining corporation Uranium One announced the termination of production at the Willow Creek mine in the state of Wyoming in the United States, moving the facility into laid-up mode. It is noted that in 2017-2018, work on drilling new wells and equipping geotechnological landfills was not carried out because of low prices for uranium. Two uranium mining companies - UR-Energy and Energy Fuels - filed a petition with the US Department of Commerce to determine whether significant amounts of uranium imports are a threat to US national security. If, as a result of the investigation initiated by the US Department of Justice, it is determined that there is a risk of a security threat, the imposition of import restrictions may affect uranium sales by Uranium One in the US market.
