Consumer prices fell in the US by 0.1% in December compared to November, the ministry of labor reports. Inflation fell below 2% for the first time since August 2017, while half a year ago, the rate of price increase was 2.9%. Prices that do not include the cost of energy and food (Core CPI index) rose in December by 0.2% compared to the previous month and by 2.2% compared to the same period last year. Energy prices fell to a record three-year mark. Price indicators fell by 3.5% in December compared with the previous month. Housing prices rose by 0.3%, food - by 0.4%. Health services rose by 0.3%, transportation services - by 0.2. Airfare fell 1.4%. The cost of American labor in hourly terms also rose by 1.1%.
