The leading insurance group in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, Vienna Insurance Group, has signed an agreement on the acquisition of 100% of the Polish insurance company Gothaer TU, which operates in the non-life insurance segment, has 6 branches and an extensive network of agents. The purchase, which should be approved by the local authorities, will allow the Vienna Insurance Group to expand its market presence in Poland, as well as increase its market share in the non-life segment from 6.2% to 7.8%. As Franz Fuchs, a board member of the Vienna Insurance Group, noted, this is “a significant step towards achieving a market share of at least 10% in Poland in the medium term”.
